If you don’t know about the Philippines, please google it! I’m sure you would like to book a flight tickets straight away! You know that I’m also originally from the Philippines and I have been there recently during summer holidays. And went to El Nido Palawan.
El Nido in Palawan island is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! It’s well known for its white-sand beaches, coral reefs and its clear waters. Miniloc is one of the spots to see because it’s there where you can find the small and big lagoons. The area has many dive sites that’s why it’s the perfect destination to go/visit.
El Nido is about 420 kilometres (260 mi) south-west of Manila and about 238 kilometres (148 mi) north-east of Puerto Princessa, the Palawan’s capital.
Here I only recommend places where I went.
+ TO GO TO EL NIDO
By plane from Manila to Puerto Princesa around 1 hour and 20mins. It’s the most common itinerary, cause it’s cheap! Then take the van at the exit of the airport (no need to book in advance, drivers will go to you. Most of them have the same rate). From Puerto Princesa to El Nido will take around 5 hours (I know, it’s a long journey, but well worth it). Once there, take the tricycle (the only transportation there) that will drive you to your hotel.
To know: Tricycle rates you around 200-350php (3,37-5,90€) for the ride depending of the distance.
The other way: By plane from Manila to El Nido around 1 hour. It’s a little bit pricy cause there is no frequent flight and it will take you straight to El Nido.
Book it with AirSWIFT here.
+ WHERE TO STAY
I think all depends on how you want to spend your holidays. If you’re looking for something more relaxing you can stay at LIO beach, there’s a resort with hotels, restaurants/bars and activities, it’s quiet and not crowded at all. Or if you want to be in the center of the town, with all the restaurants/bars, shops etc… Somewhere more alive, then stay in a beach front hotel on Corong Corong beach.
I stayed at Chislyk cottage for 3 nights with a friend and we paid 1200php each which is nothing. It was 800php per night with a view just in front of the beach. Very practical for the islands hopping tour! For the price you pay, you have the minimum in your room: one bedroom + a bathroom + toilets + air conditioning.
+ WHAT TO DO
Of course the islands hopping tour. Each one of the El Nido Palawan Tours A, B, C, D will take you on a journey to explore a specific part of the islands surrounding El Nido. You will discover beautiful and preserved islands, clear water lagoons, white sand beaches, snorkeling sites and their hundred species of fish and coral. The most popular is the tour A and C, people will recommend you these two.
During the island hopping the Tour A, you will stop at Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon, Secret Lagoon, Shimizu Island and Seven Commando Beach. This tour is special cause you will see three lagoons.
The tour C will bring you to Helicopter island, Secret Beach, Star Beach and Hidden Beach.
All the tours included Mask and Snorkel, lunch buffet and drinking water and sometime a karaoke during the trip (yeah Filipinos love singing). Prices are between 1200php (20,23€) and 1400php (23,60€).
If you’re at El Nido for a short time I recommend you first these 2 tours.
Visit also the other beaches like Lio, Nacpan, Las Cabanas beach and many more… You won’t get bored, rent a boat, go paddling or canoeing and explore all beauties of El Nido.

+ MY EXPERIENCE IN EL NIDO, PALAWAN
I was very excited about this trip as I’ve never been there before and heard a lot about it. My 3 nights and 4 days were incredible, I really enjoyed my trip and all the places I discovered were WOW! Clear blue water, white sand, amazing corals, countless species of fish and great limestone cliffs covered with vegetation. I totally recommend this little place of paradise, definitely a must-see in the Philippines.
After PALAWAN, you should go to Coron 😉
